2.2 Carbon Emissions and Climate Impact

This document provides a detailed technical description of Scientific Infra & Private Assets' carbon emissions modelling methodology, including the individual models developed to assess absolute carbon emissions and carbon intensity metrics of 60+ TICCS asset subclasses across eight TICCS superclasses. The document also comments on the quality of the input data used for the models following the recommendations of the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF).

This document is structured as follows: First, we describe the general modelling approach undertaken to build our carbon estimation models and the data used as inputs for the models. In the core section, we provide a detailed description of each model. Finally, we discuss the quality of our data and models as assessed by PCAF.

  • Estimated carbon emissions for assets from 60+ TICCS subclasses and 8 superclasses across 23 countries in Europe, America, Asia, and the Pacific

  • 12 types of models describing Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions

    • 6 regression-based models

    • 6 activity-based models

  •  Absolute carbon emissions metrics allow the construction of carbon intensity metrics at asset, sector, and index levels and for future climate scenario projections

  • PCAF data quality score: 2.8
