PCAF scores for carbon emission models

The models developed by Scientific Infra & Private Assets methodologically follow the PCAF guidelines. Since PCAF advises financial institutions that are reporting Scope 3 emissions to report these weighted data quality scores separately from Scope 1 and 2, we present the model scores for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions separately.

The table below presents PCAF scores aggregated by model and TICCS superclass. On average, the PCAF score for our models is 2.74, which compares well with other actors in the financial industry. It needs to be taken into account that:

For some models, we make assumptions for Scope 2 and 3 and consider emissions negligible. We do not assign a PCAF score to such cases.
In cases where we do not have a model due to the unavailability of data, we mention that and do not assign a PCAF score.
Option 2b of PCAF says that an asset’s production (i.e., output) must be multiplied by an EF. In some cases, we only have EFs for inputs. For example, in the case of water treatment, we have EFs that we apply to input raw water, not output treated water. For these cases, for which deviation is minimal, considering the output is closely related to the input, we provide a PCAF score marked with an asterisk* (in the table).
