Model 10: Rails (IC6040 and IC6060)

The TICCS industrial classes IC6040 (Rail Companies) and IC6060 (Urban Commuter Companies) describe assets related to rail transportation, including high-speed rail, normal trains, and metro lines. For these industrial classes, we focus on all subclasses for which we have reported data or can predict emissions. We apply RBMs for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions based on publicly reported data on rail length and train electrification ratios.

We model Scope 1 and 3 emissions in tons of CO2 based on a function of rail length (in km). We model Scope 2 emissions in tons of CO2 based on a function of rail length and the train electrification ratio in that country.
