How do you estimate Scope 3 emissions?

Answer

We use Regression- and Activity-based models (RBMs and ABMs) to estimate Scope 3 emissions. Current public reporting of Scope 3 emissions varies in availability and quality. Where Scope 3 information allows it, we cover all 15 sources of upstream and downstream emissions for a combined estimation. Our state-of-the-art models are built on reported data and high-level estimates or emission ratios (e.g., Scope 3 / Scope 1+2), making their coverage as extensive as possible based on the available information.
