Appendix I: costs of building and repairing roads in Italy and Europe
The cost of a motorway in Italy can be estimated by multiplying the civil engineering works price level index with the average cost per kilometre and the length of the motorway.
Table: Cost estimation parameters for motorways in Italy (Persyn et al., 2020)
Civil Engineering Works Price Level Index 2016
Country | Italy |
Index (%) | 82.6 |
Average Cost (EUR per kilometre) of different type of roads
Highway | 10,941,402 |
Primary Roads | 6,225,187 |
Secondary Roads | 4,159,281 |
We adjust the calculated costs of a motorway for inflation to reflect the actual costs in 2023.
